Bandera City Council member resigns
By Jessica Nohealapa'ahi Goode
The Bandera Prophet
Effective today, Bandera City Council Member Glenn Clark has resigned his position. In a letter to Mayor Suzanne Schauman, Clark wished the city good luck moving forward, and said he would continue to serve the community through volunteer work.
“I am not surrendering, but just changing tactics,” Clark told the Prophet.
Clark began his career as a city official when he became a board member of the Planning and Zoning Commission. He was also a board member of the Economic Development Corporation, but resigned from that position when he was elected to City Council in November 2013. He served one two-year term, took a year off, and was then elected to serve two more consecutive terms.
Please see his full letter below:
“Mayor,
I wish to inform you that as of today I am resigning from my seat on Bandera City Council. I had hoped to finish my term but the toxic atmosphere you and other council members have created with your hypocrisy is more than I am willing to continue to tolerate. Yesterday's meeting was the last straw for me.
I will be sharing any and all information I have with any citizen that might be interested. You are a major disappointment to me as you never seem to be able to address the issues in public meetings that you have discussed with me in private conversations. I stuck by you through some rough going over the years but I feel now you have failed not only me but the entire community.
I wish the city good luck moving forward and trying to address a long range plan for infrastructure. You now have two council members who have more time logged in city positions than anyone else and the records I have been able to find indicate they never presented anything beyond quick fixes but now claim that infrastructure is their main concern. As you well know that is just one of the cans they kicked down the road.
I intend to continue to serve my community through the type of volunteer work which gives me pleasure rather than stress to take home to my family.”
City Council’s next regular scheduled meeting is May 7, at 6 p.m.
