Though not formally declared, the Texas Department of State Health Services estimates Bandera County has zero active CoViD-19 cases, as of today. Bandera County Emergency Management Coordinator Carey Reed said she is waiting for the official letters from the state for the remaining two patients who have recovered, but have not yet been released.
They should be received any time now, Reed said.
Six total patients tested positive in Bandera County since the pandemic was declared in March. One patient required hospitalization, the others quarantined at home until three separate tests returned negative.
Three mobile drive-thrus were conducted in Bandera County for those who were symptomatic and emergency workers. During the latest collection, conducted May 14 at Mansfield Park, 15 people were tested - 12 of whom were Bandera County residents. Reed said 36 people were tested during the second mobile drive-thru on May 6, and 45 people (37 Bandera County residents) were tested during the first round.
All tests returned negative.
Reed said a fourth collection is not planned as of yet. She said the military department is focusing on nursing home facilities and meat packing plants.
