Book some time at the Bandera Library
Mauri Guillen Fagan
Bandera Library Director
The Bandera Library is continuing our phased reopening plan. In this first phase, we will continue our curbside service checkouts of books, magazines, and DVDs and expand to include copy/fax services. The library is also booking appointments for a limited number of patrons to use the public access computers. We are requiring patrons entering the building to use a face mask and to practice social distancing while in the building. Appointments are available from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. Call to make your appointment.
New books this week include J.A. Jance’s latest installment in the Ali Reynolds series. The ex-newscaster and her team at High Noon Enterprises are based in Sedona, Arizona. A mother who lost her son to a drug addiction learns he may have been driven over the edge by traumatizing experiences involving a priest in his childhood. The mother decides to focus her anger and hurt to the local archbishop Francis Gillespie. When the priest begins receiving threats and the police department ignores his pleas for help, Gillespie turns to Reynolds for help.
Iris Johansen’s newest thriller The Persuasion comes out this week too. Forensic sculptor Eve Duncan and ex-Navy SEAL Joe Quinn must entrust their daughter to their friend Seth Caleb. Their daughter Jane’s uncanny talent as an artist has drawn unwanted attention of a madman. Seth is determined to keep her safe, but Jane is forced to take matters and her safety into her own hands. One thing is for sure – Jane and Seth must find a way to work together to defeat this madman.
Lucy Foley’s latest thriller is set on the coast of Ireland. A wedding brings guests together from all over the world and the bride and groom have planned out every detail to a ‘t’. But as the saying goes, with the best laid plans… Champagne flows and the festivities begin but long overdue resentments begin to outweigh the well wishes. Between the groomsmen’s drinking games and a bridesmaid who “accidentally” ruins her dress it is clear that not much more could go wrong. That is until someone turns up dead.
As a reminder, books are always up for adoption at the library. The staff maintains and up-to-date list of upcoming titles by popular authors. You can also adopt a book that is not on our list, simply call the library and have a form filled out for you. The staff will let you know as soon as it has arrived, and you will be the first one to check it out. These donations are tax-deductible.
The library is located at 515 Main Street across from the courthouse. Our updated hours are Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you have any questions, please call the library at 830-796-4213.
Happy tales, y’all.
