The Legion is hosting their annual 4th of July Parade and BBQ. The parade begins at 11 a.m. and will be followed at noon by the barbecue.

They will have a drawing for two handmade throw blankets. There will be a 50/50 drawing and drawings for assorted gift certificates from various businesses.
The day will begin at the Medina Dam at 10 a.m. with a boat parade. And there will be a fireworks show on the lake to end the day.
To clean the grounds for the big event, the Legion asks for volunteers to come Saturday, June 13, from 8:30 to noon, to help with outside chores, sweeping, raking, trimming, and moving branches.

TRIVIA TIDBITS
Father’s Day, when fathers are honored by their children, was first observed in 1908 to complement Mother’s Day. After a sporadic history, President Lyndon Johnson issued a proclamation in 1966 designating the third Sunday in June as Father’s Day. In 1972, President Richard Nixon made it a permanent national holiday when he signed it into law.
LAKE AND RIVER
On June 15, Medina Lake is at 66.9 per cent capacity. The lake level is 1048.65 feet, which is down 15.55 feet.
The Medina River has a flow of 15.2 cfs in Bandera, running 3.53 feet deep at the gage.
Please send your Lakehills, Pipe Creek and Mico news to me by email at [email protected] or call me at 210-563-1186 and leave a message.
Until next time, “¡Vaya con Dios!”
