Calling Bandera business owners and leaders
Research team seeks post CoViD-19 economic impact input
Bandera has been selected as one of 63 small communities in Texas to participate in a summer research project focused on post economic recovery from CoViD-19. The IC2 Institute was established at The University of Texas at Austin in 1977, as a think-and-do tank to explore the broad economic, technological and human factors that drive economic development in regions. This summer, IC2 Institute will research the concerns of communities outside of major urban corridors and creating programs addressing those concerns. The impact of CoViD-19 on the health and economic fabric of our communities has been significant. Declines in energy prices have also been devastating for some communities.
IC2 established the Regional Economic Recovery Program to partner with relatively small or remote communities in the creation of recovery and growth strategies. A team of more than 60 student researchers has been assembled to gather and analyze data related to selected communities. Based on this data, the institute will present findings and recommendations to community leaders before the end of the summer and will invite all community leaders to participate in workshops related to the use of the data in the fall.
The student researcher assigned to Bandera is Jay Anand. He is wanting to interview as many local leaders who either reside in or work in zip code 7800 as possible. He is looking to interview city and county leaders, healthcare providers, educators, local organization leaders, veterans, local business owners and residents of the city of all ages. If you receive an email or a call from Jay please take time to speak with him. Also if you would like to suggest additional people for him to interview please let him know name and contact information.
In addition to the interviews there is a community wide survey which the BEDC is asking as many people who live and work in zip code 78003 to complete. The community that has the most surveys completed will receive a $100 donation to the local school district.
The link to the survey is listed below. Please feel free to share the link with anyone living or working in zip code 78003.
For additional information contact The City of Bandera at 830-796-3765.
