The mystery pecan tree

This photo of a massive pecan tree was taken in 1915 and published in a 1918 tourist guide and a 1929 newspaper article about the pecan industry. It was most recently published in 2016 in National Geographic magazine.
It's said to have been "along the Medina River." There are some references in "big tree" lists to a record pecan tree on private property near Bandera.
Neither the A&M Forest Service, the Texas Pecan Growers Association nor the UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures recognizes the tree. If anyone has information regarding it, please email jessica@banderaprophet.com.
