Book some time at the Bandera Library
By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director
The temperatures are rising and it’s a great time to stay cool indoors. There are two weeks left of the Summer Reading Program’s Grab-and-go kits. It’s not too late to pick one up for your child or grandchild. The kits are packed with arts and crafts activities and several books to pass the time indoors. Call the library to get more information.
Another great way to beat the heat is to check out the library’s Flipster digital magazines. The Bandera Library subscribes to 29 titles available to our patrons through the Flipster app. There is something for everyone from gardening to sports, guns, and crafts, patrons can download a recent issue of the magazine on to their device totally for free.
Out this week is He Started It by Samantha Downing. Three siblings, Beth, Portia and Eddie Morgan, have not been on speaking terms for years. When their wealthy grandfather passes, the three learn he has left a substantial inheritance on the stipulation that they take a cross-country family road trip together. Simple enough, perhaps, except on their trip the siblings begin to learn things about each other they do not like. Namely, that one of them is a killer. And there is the black car that has been following them mile after mile.
Near Dark by Brad Thor is also out this week. Scott Harvath, America’s top spy, has just learned the world’s largest bounty has been placed – on his head. His only choice is to outrun and outwit his enemies. In order to fulfill his most dangerous mission yet, Harvath must find help. With few options and even fewer people he can trust, Harvath reaches out to Norwegian agent Sølvi Kolstad. Kolstad matches Harvath’s smarts, skills and troubled past.
The Bandera Library is open by appointment only, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. We are located at 515 Main Street across the street from the courthouse.
Happy tales, y’all.
