Bulldogs on the practice field

By Chris Darus

A fairly large crowd lined the south bound side of Old San Antonio Rd. Saturday morning to watch the Bandera Bulldogs first full contact practice/scrimmage of the year.
The freshman team opened the practice at 8 a.m. and were put through their paces until the varsity took the field at 8:45.
But wait, no JV? Currently there is not a JV team this season as coaches have elected to keep the 22 or so freshmen together as a unit and the numbers are not there to support a JV team with the varsity.
The varsity team is rebuilding as a result of a large graduating class last year, leaving question marks on the depth charts and many starting positions up for grabs.
Tyler Moore looked good at QB and took most of the snaps, the offensive line is coming along and the defense had some moments as well, both up front and in the secondary.
From the seemingly all-seeing eye of Head Coach Joel Fontenot-Amedee, the quiet, muted direction of Offensive Coordinator Bobby Lalanne, the intensity of Defensive Coordinator Manny Martinez and the rest of the coaching staff, the Bulldogs are looking for a repeat of last season.
The Bulldogs are scheduled to face Natalia on Thursday at Bulldog Stadium in a restricted attendance scrimmage with only parents of players allowed access and social distancing guidelines are to be followed.

Check with the Bandera ISD for confirmation.
