County judge applies for mask exemption

Judge Richard Evans has applied for a countywide mask exemption. Bandera County has had less than 20 active cases for more than 30 days, making the county eligible for an exemption to the governor’s executive order mandating masks in all public places.
Bandera County Emergency Management Coordinator Carey Reed said the paperwork was submitted to the Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM), however the staff there was deployed due to Hurricane Laura, which made landfall last night on the state’s east coast.
Reed said the deployment has caused a delay, and she was not sure when the exemption would become official.
According to the Texas Department of State Health Services Region 8 officials, as of Tuesday, Bandera County had two active Covid cases and 110 recovered.
