As of this morning, the countywide burn ban is lifted, Fire Marshal John Stith said. The ban has been in place since July.
Steady rains, a lowered KBDI [Keetch Byram Drought Index], and more rain forecasted have reduced risk, though the county is still in moderate drought stage, according to the Bandera County River Authority and Groundwater District. The KBDI values show Bandera County about mid-range on the scale, between 400 and 600.
Scattered rain chances continue through this week and into next, along with highs in the 80s.
