Nightmare on Maple set for All Hallows’ Eve

Parents start prepping kids’ costumes because Bandera’s Nightmare on Maple Street has the green light. Hosted by the Bandera Marshal’s Office, deputies and other first responders will be trunk-or-treating on October 31st when the sun goes down.
This year, in an effort to make families comfortable as the community continues to navigate pandemic parameters, festivities will be contained to the back circle of City Park. The area will be decorated and trick-or-treaters will have a “walking hay ride” where they will play games and collect candy.
“We chose that area because there is more space for everyone,” Deputy Willie Smith said, who is spearheading this year’s event.
There will not be a bounce house nor will there be free food handed out, however Smith said the Marshal’s Office has not discouraged door-to-door trick-or-treating. The event will begin around 5:30 p.m.
Smith said volunteers are welcome to participate. Anyone interested in hosting a trunk is urged to contact him at [email protected]. Volunteers may also call Smith at 830-460-7172.
