LAKEHILLS CIVIC CENTER is opening back up by hosting the 9th annual Free Community Thanksgiving Meal on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 26, from noon to 3 p.m. The Civic Center is located at 11225 PR 37 in Lakehills and attendees may dine in or take out. Sponsored by Hill Country Samaritans, they will offer live music and be Covid compliant.
Volunteers are needed before, during and after the event. To volunteer, or for more information, call 719-266-6550.

ALAMO RC&D is offering one Food Distribution in November and another one in December, due to the upcoming holidays. Both distributions will be curbside and by reservation. They encourage those who need food to also attend the food bank distributions at Mansfield Park in both months.
Alamo’s first distribution will be Thursday, Nov. 12, at Faith Tabernacle, 7789 FM 1283, from 4 - 5:30 p.m. Their second distribution will be Thursday, Dec. 3, also at Faith Tabernacle, from 4 - 5:30 p.m. Those who wish to participate must register online at alamorcd.org or emailing alamorcd@gmail.com or calling 210-548-9248.
The Food Bank distributions will be held at Mansfield Park on Monday, Nov. 23, and Monday, Dec. 14, beginning at 11 a.m. For more information about the Food Bank distributions, call the Silver Sage at 830-796-4969.

AMERICAN LEGION POST 410, 147 Legion Dr. in Lakehills, is now open to the public, from 3 p.m., Fridays through Wednesdays. They serve meals every Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m. Each week offers a different dish, with sides and beverage for $8 a plate. Desserts are available for a small amount and diners may eat in or take out. For more information, call 830-751-3711.

CHRISTIAN WOMENS JOB CORPS is taking applications for the next class session, beginning Tuesday, Jan. 5. The classes are free and run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week for 12 weeks. Lunch and books are provided. Participants must be over 18 and committed to growth. For more information, call 830-326-1457.

PIPE CREEK CHRISTMAS TREE FARM will open for the purchase of Christmas trees on Monday, Nov. 23. They will be open daily, except Thanksgiving Day, from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Customers will pick and cut their own trees; assistance is available for cutting, wrapping and hauling. The farm is located at Hwy. 16 and Phil’s Rd. in Pipe Creek.
They also sell living Afghan Pine Christmas trees in pots.

FAMILY HOME GARDEN PROJECT, hosted by Lakehills Civic Center board member Henry Wolanski, helps people raise their own food. He has a live chat every Saturday at 10 a.m. for gardeners and aspiring gardeners. Check in at the website: familyhomegarden.weebly.com.

LAKE AND RIVER
On Nov. 8, Medina Lake is at 45.8 per cent capacity. The lake level is 1035.69 feet, which is down 28.51 feet.
The Medina River has a flow of 4.02 cfs in Bandera, standing 3.11 feet deep at the gage.
