As of this afternoon, Bandera ISD has confirmed six people in the district have tested positive for Coronavirus, including two district level employees. The other four cases have been identified at three school campuses.
Though he could not comment on the status of anyone’s health, Superintendent Dr. Jerry Hollingsworth said the district stays in close contact with everyone affected.
“We stay in regular communication with them to make sure we’re helping in any way we can,” Hollingsworth said.
In addition to the confirmed cases, 36 people have been asked to quarantine for exposure.
“That shows you how careful we are. We err on the side of caution. When in doubt, we’re going to quarantine,” he said, adding quarantined students will continue to receive educational instruction via remote learning.
On Nov. 2, the district reported four positive cases and 21 people quarantined. On Nov. 5, the number of those asked to quarantine increased to 24. Hollingsworth said there is no specific number that will trigger a temporary district closure.
“It’s simply going to be something we gauge,” Hollingsworth said.
Countywide, according to Region 8, Bandera has 13 active cases, 220 recoveries and three deaths.
