Bulldog varsity wins road opener

The Bandera Prophet
Bandera's varsity basketball Bulldogs got their first win of the season with a 59-49 victory over S.A. Kennedy last Friday.
Taking a page from their opponents successes, Medina Valley and Uvalde in the two prior contests, the Bulldogs increased their defensive play to force the Rockets into turnovers turning that advantage into points on the scoreboard.
Bandera had their best defensive performance of the year so far in the second quarter, holding the Rockets to just 5 points.
The addition of Tyler Moore to the lineup definitely helped the cause as he and Lukas Jackson crashed the boards for 12 and 13 rebounds respectively, something the Bulldogs will need to continue throughout the season.
The quartet of Kayden Brown, Luke Barnett, Jackson and Moore led the team with 43 points between them.
“We took a big step forward on Tuesday, and a big part of that was our energy and intensity on the defensive end of the floor. We dominated the rebounding battle and cut our turnovers in half from Friday’s game against Uvalde. We still have a lot of work to do in order to get where we want to be this season, but we are moving in the right direction, and our kids continue to play with everything they have every time they step on the court,” Coach Brady Keane said.
Bandera will be back in action in a rare Saturday home date against the Dilley Wolves. Tipoff for the varsity is at 3:30 with the freshmen and JV games preceding.
