LAKEHILLS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH will host “A Community Christmas” on Sunday, Dec. 13, at the church, located at 150 Ave. J in Lakehills. Sponsored by Hill Country Samaritans & Friends, it will be a free craft bazaar. For adults and youth, tables are $10 each or bring your own. Homemade arts and crafts are welcome. LAKEHILLS CIVIC CENTER will host “Christmas Under the Stars” outdoor Christmas event on Saturday, Dec. 19, at 5 p.m. Walk through Bethlehem, enjoy Santa, the Christmas tree and refreshments. The public is invited and it is Covid compliant, with masks required. There will be gifts for kiddos 12 years and younger.
ALAMO RC&D is offering a Food Distribution in December. The distribution will be curbside and by reservation. They encourage those who need food to also attend the Food Bank Distribution at Mansfield Park.
Alamo’s distribution will be Thursday, Dec. 3 at Faith Tabernacle, 7789 FM 1283, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Those who wish to participate must register online at alamorcd.org or emailing [email protected] or calling 210-548-9248.
The Food Bank distribution will be held at Mansfield Park on Monday, Dec. 14, beginning at 11 a.m. For more information about the Food Bank distributions, call the Silver Sage at 830-796-4969.
MICO VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT is hosting Santa and his elves in a drive-through event on Saturday, Dec. 5, beginning at 5 p.m. They will provide dinner plates for everyone. Adults will receive plates consisting of ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, green beans, corn, a roll and a slice of apple or pumpkin pie. Youngsters will get a plate with ham, turkey, mac and cheese, corn, a roll and a cookie. The elves will also hand out hot cocoa to the kiddos. The food will be served until they run out.
AMERICAN LEGION POST 410, 147 Legion Dr. in Lakehills, is now open to the public, from 3 p.m., Fridays through Wednesdays. They serve meals every Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m. Each week offers a different dish, with sides and beverage for $8 a plate. Desserts are available for a small amount and diners may eat in or take out. For more information, call 830-751-3711.
The Post will host their Adopt-A-Highway clean-up on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 a.m. Those who wish to help will meet at the corner of FM 1283 and PR 37, at the Chevron station.
CHRISTIAN WOMENS JOB CORPS is taking applications for the next class session, beginning Tuesday, Jan. 5. The classes are free and run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week for 12 weeks. Lunch and books are provided. Participants must be over 18 and committed to growth. For more information, call 830-326-1457.
PIPE CREEK CHRISTMAS TREE FARM is open for the purchase of Christmas trees. They will be open daily, from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Customers will pick and cut their own trees; assistance is available for cutting, wrapping and hauling. The farm is located at Hwy. 16 and Phil’s Rd. in Pipe Creek.
They also sell living Afghan Pine Christmas trees in pots.

LAKEHILLS CIVIC CENTER hosted the 9th annual Free Community Thanksgiving Meal on Thanksgiving Day, beginning at noon. While it was supposed to last until 3 p.m., the food was actually gone by 1 p.m., and they had to turn people away. Most of the participants drove through, got their plates, and left. It was sponsored by Hill Country Samaritans, who did a beautiful job decorating and offered live music by the popular local Beedle family.

On Nov. 27, Medina Lake is at 43.6 per cent capacity. The lake level is 1034.00 feet, which is down 30.20 feet.
The Medina River has a flow of 4.99 cfs in Bandera, standing 3.18 feet deep at the gage.
