By Jessica Nohealapa’ahi Goode
The Bandera Prophet

The Bandera General Store is manifesting the Christmas spirit. Owners Glen McComb and Marcia Kabat are hosting three events in the next two weeks that put the Ho Ho Ho in holiday.
Calling all children 13 years and under, the Children’s Christmas Art Contest is going on now. Anything from a decorated ornament to a 16x20 canvas or poster board will be accepted through Thursday, Dec. 3. Kids may use oil, acrylic, watercolor, pen and ink or crayons to create their favorite Christmas scene. Judging will be based on originality, colors, choice of composition and materials.
The deadline is 5 p.m. sharp on Dec. 3. Judging will be at the store on Sunday, Dec. 6, at noon. Gift certificates for $75, $50 and $25 will be awarded to first, second and third place winners. A quick note, don’t forget to include the artist’s name and age, and their parent’s name and phone number on the back of the piece.
All entries will be featured in the Bandera Prophet.
On Friday, Dec. 4, Santa will make an appearance from 5-8 p.m., during Bandera’s Shopper’s Jubilee. The jolly man will double back for a second visit on Saturday, Dec. 5, from noon to 3 p.m. Parents may bring their own cameras.
The second annual Gingerbread House Contest will be Saturday, Dec. 12, at noon. All entries must be turned in by Thursday, Dec. 10, at 5 p.m. Awards will be given for first, second and third place winners.
