Girls Basketball
After falling to the 13th ranked Boerne Lady Greyhounds by a 68-22 score, Bandera fell to 10-6 (0-2, district) after a close district home opening loss to the Wimberly Lady Texans Friday night.

Boerne
The state ranked Lady Greyhounds game was on display at home as they controlled the boards on both ends of the court to outdistance Bandera, 68-22, opening district 28-4A play Tuesday night.
Bandera played well out on the perimeter, limiting Boerne to three 3-pointers for the night, but the inside game on their offensive end allowed Boerne numerous second chance attempts to score, according to coach Kierstyn Sells.

Wimberly
Friday's district home opener against Wimberley  was a close game for three quarters but Bandera hit a wall in the fourth and allowed Wimberly to escape with a 49-33 win.
With the score 23-20 at the half, Bandera played much better on both ends of the floor than their prior contest. Down by a 9-2 count late in the first, Coach Sells put Estella Calderon into the lineup and that sparked the Lady Bulldogs as Calderon scored 4 points before the buzzer to make in 9-6.
The second quarter was nip and tuck with both teams scoring evenly to keep it a three point game at the half.
Bandera kept the game close throughout the third and erased the deficit to just two points with a Calderon shot to end the third, 32-30.
Bandera apparently hit the wall about halfway through the fourth with Wimberley owning the defensive boards and limiting Bandera to one and dones while transitioning downcourt to outscore Bandera 17-3 in the fourth to secure the win.
"We will continue to work going into next week's games against Davenport  there on Tuesday and  Canyon Lake at home Thursday for Senior Night. I know in my heart and in my head that these Lady Bulldogs are some of the hardest working athletes I have ever watched and coached. They will continue to give it everything they have and I will continue to give them everything I have. They have been the ¨comeback kids¨ on more than one occasion this season and I do not have any doubt that they will continue to fight and come back stronger each week," coach Kierstn Sells said.

Boys Basketball
Varsity
Bandera basketball was on their first three game win streak in years after a win against Llano, but their next contest against Pearsall ended the streak on Friday.
The Bulldogs started district play last night against Comal Davenport with an 8-7 record.

Llano
After falling behind by seven points at the half, Bandera mounted a comeback bid to get their third win in a row against a tenacious Yellowjacket squad.
Bandera was down 22-15 at the half and picked it up after the break to rally to a 49-41 victory
thanks to Tyler Moore and Gunnar Winkler finding their range late in the third and combining for 12 points to help get Bandera within four points going into the fourth.
Bandera outscored Llano 17-5 to get the win as the Bulldogs picked it up on the defensive end with Barnett and Lukas Jackson adding 13 of the 17 points for the quarter.
“We did a really good job of weathering the storm on the road as it took us a little while to get comfortable offensively. Our guys trusted in their effort on the defensive end of the court and really took advantage of the transition opportunities we were able to create, which helped to spark our offense in the second half. We’re playing well defensively right now and that’s going to be the key for us in district. I’m proud of the energy, effort and enthusiasm we’re bringing to the court every day, it’s a lot of fun to be a part of," coach Brady Keane said.

Pearsall
Bandera travelled to Pearsall to take on the Mavericks in a no spectators allowed, "ghost game" Friday evening and fell to the Mavs by a 65-59 score.
The contest was back and forth with Pearsall working their way to a four point lead at the end of one and Bandera battling back to take a single point lead at the halftime buzzer, 27-26.
Bandera had worked their way to an eight point advantage until they ran into foul trouble, allowing Pearsall to double up on free throw chances for the game, 39-20, permitting them to get back into the mix. Pearsall also took control of the boards allowing them multiple chances to score late in the game.
“It’s obviously disappointing to fall short in the final non-district game of the year, but I was really proud of the way our guys played. That was a hard-fought, competitive basketball game against a really good program, and the experience made us a better team. We’ve grown so much as a team through our 15 non-district games, and are excited to continue working over the next few weeks of district play toward accomplishing the goals we set as a program at the beginning of the year,” Keane said
