BEC Substation dedicated to Jerry Word
On Tuesday, Jan. 19, Bandera Electric Cooperative dedicated the Pipe Creek substation to recently retired BEC Board Director Jerry Word.
“Mr. Word has shown tremendous dedication and served the cooperative well in his 39-year tenure,” said Bill Hetherington, BEC CEO. “BEC is delighted to dedicate the substation in his honor.”
Word was raised in Bandera County and joined the BEC board in February 1981. He served as board president from August 1982 until May 2010, and retired in September 2020. He represented District 1 and the members of the Pipe Creek area.
