Countywide burn ban lifted

After days of consistent rain, Bandera County Judge Richard Evans lifted the countywide burn ban, effective immediately.
The ban was implemented Dec. 10, and could go back into effect once the ground dries and the rain stops. The Keetch-Byram Drought Index, used to measure fire potential, rates Bandera County an average of 536 on a scale of zero to 800, with 800 the highest risk.
Anyone who wants to burn is advised to call the Sheriff’s Office to make sure a temporary ban for that day is not in effect.
