ALAMO RC&D is partnering with the San Antonio Food Bank and the Silver Sage Community Center in Bandera to distribute food every month.
Through the Alamo RC&D Senior Assistance Program they will continue with the Curbside Pantry and some economic assistance. In order to continue to participate in 2021, each senior household will need to complete the online application on their website at alamorcd.org. It can be completed on phone, tablet or computer. If you have trouble, text 210-548-9248 and Alma will call you back to walk you through it.
Those who register will be able to attend the Food Distributions each month at Faith Tabernacle, 7789 FM 1283. Dates will be announced and will be around the middle of each month.
In addition, registrants will also be able to pick up food at Food Distributions sponsored by Silver Sage and the San Antonio Food Bank. That food will be distributed at three locations once each month on the fourth Tuesday and the fourth Wednesday.
- On Tuesday, Jan. 26, the food can be picked up at Lakehills Civic Center, 11225 PR 37 in Lakehills, from 9 - 11 a.m.
- On the same day, Jan. 26, from 1 - 3 p.m., the food can be picked up at the Medina Volunteer Fire Department in Medina.
- On Wednesday, Jan 27, the food will be available at Mansfield Park, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Once registered, senior citizens, who live in Bandera or surrounding counties and are 55 years old or older, are invited to participate in the free Alamo RCD Senior Zoom Social Club this year. Seniors must download the free Zoom app to smart phone, tablet or computer to join the group online for a virtual meeting. Zoom meetings are planned for each month and will include fun, friendship and great information. Future social events will provide guest speakers, social discussions, online games, birthday celebrations and prizes.
The first Zoom meeting on Jan. 21 was quite successful, with Elia Pardo presenting “AACOG Senior Assistance in 2021.”
