The Bandera Lady Bulldogs finished the first round of district with a loss to Fredericksburg on Tuesday.
The Lady Billie's showed why they are the number two team in the state in 4A with an 86-18 defeat of Bandera.
Boerne
Friday, the Lady Bulldogs hosted the 15th ranked, Boerne Lady Greyhounds to open the district's second round.
Bandera fielded just seven players and playing with a short bench showed late in the game in a 78-47 loss.
"We executed well and gave Boerne everything we could even though we were down several players. Strong senior leadership was shown by Breanna Stimmell and Madison Leal on the offensive end. Izabell Kennedy provided exceptional defense for the Lady Bulldogs on the other end.
In the end, we ran out of energy and just could not close the gap, even though we made some great runs throughout the game," coach Kierstyn Sells said.

Bulldog junior, Liam DeMarchi, scored 11 points and recorded 10 boards in his third double-double game in a row, as the 15th ranked Fredericksburg Billies came to town Tuesday and handed the host Bulldogs a 56-32 loss.
Fred opened up a first quarter 11-4 lead, then went on a 14-0 romp in the second, to help extend their lead to 33-14 at halftime.
Both teams played a little more evenly matched in the second half with Fred outscoring Bandera by a 23-18 count to cement to win.
With the loss, Bandera goes to 9-9 (1-2 district) on the season. The district loss places them in a four-way tie with Wimberley, Comal Davenport and Canyon Lake looking for the three and four seed, behind Boerne (3-0) and Fred (2-1).
“We got off to a good start defensively, but it took us too long to find our footing on the offensive end. Turnovers allowed Fredericksburg to pull away early in the second quarter, but our kids battled and competed until the end, and we saw a lot of good things that we can build on moving forward. Our district is extremely competitive from top to bottom and we just have to continue to grow and improve as we continue to fight for a playoff spot over the next few weeks," coach Brady Keane said.

Bandera travelled to Boerne Friday evening and returned with a 71-31 loss to the sixth ranked Greyhounds, in a disappointing loss.
“Boerne is a talented team, and we made too many mistakes early in the game that made things easy for them. It was another good learning experience for our players to have to battle through some of the adversity our team faced late in the week, and we’re still in a good position to make a statement and pick up an important win at home Tuesday against Wimberley,” coach Keane said.
Boerne played well on both ends of the floor and controlled the boards while limiting the Bulldogs to three single digit quarters defensively.
