The Lady Bulldogs were back in action this week after taking a few days off.
On Wednesday, the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Wimberley to play a rescheduled game. Friday the Lady Bulldogs faced off with third ranked Fredericksburg at home.
Then Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs played another rescheduled game against Davenport at home. Although the Lady Bulldogs started off with two losses, they finished the week with a win keeping them in the playoff hunt.

Wimberley
The Lady Bulldogs came out a little slow on the offensive end in the Wimberley game, but were able to improve as the game progressed and seemed to find their groove by the end. After they found their groove in the second quarter, the Lady Bulldogs scored 16. At halftime the Lady Bulldogs were only down 29-18. The Lady Bulldogs came out fighting in the second half, but numerous foul calls put Wimberley on the line way too many times. Ultimately, the Lady Bulldogs fell 73-44.
The Lady Bulldogs showed great things and I had no doubt that they would be just fine for the remainder of our games after how they came back after the break.

Fredericksburg
Friday, the Lady Bulldogs played third ranked Fredericksburg at home. The Lady Bulldogs only allowed Fred to score 29 points in the first half. Speed, execution and communication allowed the Lady Bulldogs to work well as a team on the defensive end. The Lady Bulldogs handled the Fred defense well and scored 16 points making it 29-16 at the half.
In the second half, the Lady Bulldogs scored 15 points but Fred was able to pull away scoring 40. In the end, the Lady Bulldogs looked good and they were ready to go for Davenport on Saturday.

Davenport
Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs played Davenport at home. The Lady Bulldogs started the game a little slow giving Davenport life, but after the second quarter the Lady Bulldogs played their game and went into halftime up 21-17.
The Lady Bulldogs continued to battle through adversity and stayed tough through the second half. We were able to stay tough and execute on both ends of the floor well even when it felt like many things were going against us. The Lady Bulldogs got the win, 42-35.
With this win, the Lady Bulldogs keep their playoffs hopes alive.
The Lady Bulldogs will play again Monday at Canyon Lake for our last rescheduled district game. With a win, the Lady Bulldogs will clench fourth place in  district and make the playoffs.

Fredericksburg
Varsity

The Bandera varsity boys basketball team hit the road Friday night to take on 16th ranked Fredericksburg and the Billies hung on for a 60-46 victory in a competitive back-and-forth game.
After a tightly contested first quarter, the Bulldogs gave up an 8-0 run late in the second that shifted the momentum to Fredericksburg heading into the halftime break.
But, Bandera responded well and matched the Billies shot-for-shot in the second half, cutting the deficit to single digits with less than five minutes left to play. Fredericksburg pulled away down the stretch though, hanging on for its 17th win of the season.
The Bulldogs showed immense improvement from the first meeting between the teams when the Billies took home a 56-32 win.
Bandera controlled the ball against the Fredericksburg press more effectively, played physical man-to-man defense and rebounded the ball well in the second meeting.
Bandera dropped to 10-13 and 2-6 in District 28-4A play with the loss.
The Bulldogs will close out the regular season next week with a home game against fifth ranked Boerne on Tuesday and an away game on Friday against Wimberley.
Senior Lukas Jackson led the way both offensively and defensively for the Bulldogs, recording his first double-double in district play and his fourth of the season, with 14 points and 14 boards.
I was really proud of the intensity we played with from start to finish. We didn’t get off to a slow start and we were able to weather the storm through several of the runs Fredericksburg threw at us. We cut into the deficit in the fourth quarter and gave ourselves a chance – we just needed a few more shots to fall. Our kids played hard and left everything on the court against a state-ranked team, and we’re excited about the opportunity to get back to work and compete against another ranked team on Tuesday.

The Bandera JV boys basketball team gave Fredericksburg everything it could handle through most of  the first half, but the Billies got hot offensively after the break and pulled away in the third quarter on their way to a 63-39 victory.
Kyle Morgan scored a team-high 14 points to lead the way for the Bulldogs while Braden Cox and Kayden Brown contributed 7 points each.
Bandera dropped to .500 (9-9) on the season and 1-5 in district play with the loss.

Freshmen
The Bandera freshmen boys basketball team avenged their only loss of district to date as they knocked off Fredericksburg, 43-38, on the road Friday night.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead thanks to a hot start from Jesus Cardenas, Alex Dirck and Jorge Cabasos, and the defensive play of Cardenas, Cale Barnett and Corben Gonzales caused issues for the Billies.
Fredericksburg got hot from the three-point line in the second half, but Bandera was able to weather the storm and knock down clutch free throws at the end to escape with a victory.
The Bulldogs improved to 12-6 and 5-1 with the win. Bandera will close out its season next week at home against Boerne on Tuesday before traveling to Wimberley on Friday.

Tennis
Coach Ginger Frye

It was an excellent season opener for Bulldog tennis this past Friday.  While we got off to a rocky start due to COVID and didn't have a full team entered, we did come away with some great wins and an exciting outlook for the spring individual season.
Big wins were had by Cobe Martin, Nate Brown, and Liam Sanders in Boys Singles and Amberly Patterson/Christian McKnelly in Mixed Doubles.
The Bulldog JV will travel to Uvalde this weekend and the varsity has the weekend off.
