League of Women Voters - Hill Country Texas Meeting set for March 2
The 87th Session of the Texas Legislature meets for 140 days. The session convened on Jan. 12 and adjourns on Monday, May 31. The League of Women Voters - Texas named two priority issues for the League focus this legislative session: voting rights and election law, and redistricting and census. Other urgent issues for the League concern air quality/climate, women's health and heath care, especially low-income Texans and the elderly.
The LWV-Hill Country Texas meeting on Tuesday, March 2 from 5:30 - 7 p.m., will feature speaker Cinde Weatherby, Voting Rights and Election Law Issue Chair for LWV Texas. Meetings of the LWV-Hill Country Texas are open to the public, and men and women are welcome to attend. LWV-Hill Country Texas has members and events in five counties of the Hill Country: Bandera, Blanco, Gillespie, Kendall and Kerr. Membership dues are paid annually and membership is open to anyone age 16 and older - men and women. A membership level is available for high school and college students.
