The Latest at the Bandera Library

Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 3, for the monthly Book Fair benefitting the Friends of the Library. New and gently used books are available by donation. The fair opens at 9 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. We hope you can stop by.
Tuesday, April 13, at 10:30 a.m., is the next monthly craft making party for kids. The kids will be getting ready for spring by making paper flowers. Register your kids online via Engaged Patrons or call the Library to sign up. There are limited spots for the in-person event. Let the librarians know if you want your child to get a to-go craft kit.
For folks who are already making summer plans, the schedule for the Summer Reading Program has been set. The program will take place on Tuesdays, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., beginning on June 29 until Aug. 3. The theme this year is “Tails and Tales.”
Stories that feature animals will be highlighted. Our goal is to encourage children to read for fun during the summer months and to maintain their reading skills they developed during the school year. Toddlers and pre-schoolers and school age kids (up to 5th grade) are invited to participate.
Each week will include songs and dance, an arts and crafts activity and a guest speaker/reader. Participants will receive a reading log so that they can keep track of the books they have read during the week. Prizes will be awarded throughout the program. Don’t worry if you already have travel plans during that time. All kids are welcome to attend whether they can come all six weeks or only a couple of times.
The program will be making to-go kits for those who want to take part but cannot attend in person. Parents and guardians can register their kids online or by calling the library. The library will also need volunteers for the program so let us know if you are interested in helping out.
The Bandera Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Check out our website www.banderacountylibrary.org for all up-to-date information. Masks are required while you are in the building.
Happy tales, y’all.
