The Latest at the Bandera Library
By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director
April has arrived and so have the wildflowers. This month is officially recognized as National Poetry month. To celebrate, the library will be hosting a virtual poetry ‘open mic.’ Submit your poems to the library in person or online by April 24. The library will share it on our website and on social media. People of all ages are invited to participate. Every day this month, the library will share on social media examples of our favorite poems. Be sure to follow and like us so that you won’t miss one.
Next Tuesday, April 13, at 10:30 a.m., is the next Monthly Craft Making party for kids. The kids will be getting ready for spring by making paper flowers. Register your kids online via Engaged Patrons or call the library to sign up. There are limited spots for the in-person event. Let the librarians know if you want your child to get a to-go craft kit.
Have you started working on your taxes yet? The library has eight public computers available if you would like to reserve one to do your taxes online. We have not received the instruction booklets, but the librarians are ready to help you make copies of the sections you need. Keep in mind also, the library’s Wi-Fi is always available if you would like to bring your personal laptop to complete your taxes.
The library will also be offering a free lamination service for COVID vaccine cards. Once you have received both of your shots (or the one-and-done dose), come by the library during normal hours and the librarians will laminate the card to keep it safe free of charge.
The Bandera Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Check out our website www.banderacountylibrary.org for all up-to-date information. Masks are required while you are in the building.
Happy tales, y’all.
