Job Corps celebrates another graduate

The Bandera Prophet
Elaine Marie Palmer proudly graduated from the Christian Women’s Job Corps of Bandera County on Monday, April 5.
She wore her cap and gown with obvious joy, and when asked to say a few words, she expressed gratitude to God and to the Job Corps for giving her the skills she needed to get the job she recently acquired. She said she now has hope for the future.
The event took place in the Youth Building of First Baptist Church of Bandera and was followed by a reception.
Coordinator Aurora Williams welcomed the guests and introduced the graduate and all the volunteers who make the Job Corps possible. Pastor Chris McLain gave the invocation. Williams handed out the certificate and gave Palmer a red rose.
The crowd filled the little chapel and consisted of proud family members, friends and supporters who came to honor Palmer and celebrate her achievements.
The Job Corps thanked the church, the many ministry partner organizations and businesses, and all the individual volunteers who have made the Corps successful. Together, they have changed the lives of all the women who have gone through the program and brought hope to them and to our community.
The next session will begin in September and applications will be available in August. Each session lasts 12 weeks and is free to adult women, providing “a safe Christ-centered environment that encourages spiritual, professional and personal growth,” according to the Job Corps mission statement.
The Job Corps welcomes additional teachers, sponsors, mentors and volunteers.
To volunteer, sponsor or donate, contact Coordinator Aurora Williams at 830-326-1457 or email [email protected]. For more information, go to the website fbcbandera.com/cwjc.
As a non-profit ministry of the church, all donations are tax deductible.
