Lakehills Area Library Leanings

By Vicki L. George
The Bandera Prophet

The Lakehills library will host an in-person class in the library’s conference room on Thursday, April 29, at 10:30 a.m. To celebrate National Healthcare Decision Day, the class is offered by Alamo Hospice and it is free to all adults. Class participants will make an advance directive, a medical power of attorney and, if they wish, a Do Not Resuscitate order. When the class is over, they will have all their paperwork ready and signed. Class size will be limited to 10 participants; if more sign up, the library will make a waiting list and schedule more classes. Masks and social distancing will be required. Call now to reserve your seat.
The library has a Zoom book club on the second Wednesday of each month, at 1 p.m. On April 14 the group will discuss The Couple Next Door by Sheri Lepena. Contact the library to receive the link to join the discussion. All are welcome.
The library offers many services: Use a computer; playground and picnic tables; walking track and adult fitness equipment; lamination; educational take-home bags; “date night” kits with games, movies and cookbook; tax paperwork; and more.
Library cards are free and will allow free access to thousands of downloadable ebooks and audio books as well as online databases full of correct and helpful information on any subject imaginable. Patrons are notified of return dates and there are no late fees.
All services are available including books, DVD movies, audio books, printing, faxing, copying, notary, and scanning.
Hundreds of paperback and hardcover books, and DVDs, are available for purchase.
The library reminds patrons that curbside is available, as is free WiFi in the parking lot.
The library’s hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Masks are required, as is social distancing. It is located at 7200 FM 1283 and the phone number is 830-510-2777. The email address is lakehillslibrary@gmail.com. Their website is lakehillslibrary.org.
