The Latest at the Bandera Library
By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director
Every day this month the Bandera Library is celebrating Poetry Month by posting a daily poem. This month’s Poetry Virtual Open Mic is coming to a close. This Saturday, April 24, is the last day to submit your poem to be shared on our social media. Entries can be submitted via email banderalibrarycirculation@gmail.com or you can message us on our website or Facebook.
Thursday, April 22, is Earth Day and the library will be celebrating by making miniature terrariums out of mason jars at 3 p.m. This is a great project for people of all ages whether or not you’ve got a green thumb. Contact us to reserve a spot. If you can’t make it, reserve a take home kit and check out our Facebook page for a how-to video.
Have you renewed your membership to The Friends of the Library yet? The Friends of the Library raises funds for the purchase of books, magazines and newspaper subscriptions. The county does not provide money for these items, so we rely on the hard work of the Friends in order to keep our shelves stocked with great reads. Being a Friend is a great way to give back to the library. And there are benefits for you too beyond supporting the library. When you sign up to be a Friend, or renew an existing membership, you have longer check out times and reduced late fees. So, if you are just one of those people who always seems to have late fees, become a Friend!
Don’t forget the library is still offering free lamination services for your COVID vaccination card. Just swing by and the staff will get you all set up.
The Bandera Public Library is located at 515 Main Street, across from the Courthouse. We are open Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Masks are required while in the Library. Contact us at 830-796-4213 or banderalibrarycirculation@gmail.com.
Happy tales, y’all.
