Bandera High School AcDec brings home the gold

The Bandera High School Academic Decathlon Team placed first in the Thomas E. Moseley Championship Finals state competition. Coached by Dan and Sheila Zavorka, the team individual placements are as follows:

Luke Bitzkie Region: 2-Gold, 5-Silver, 1-Bronze, State: 2-Gold, 3-Silver, 2-Bronze.
Samuel Nimmrichter Region: 5-Gold, 1-Silver, State: 4-Gold, 1-Silver, 1-Bronze.
Christian McKnelly Region: 8-Gold, 1-Bronze, State: 7-Gold, 1-Bronze.  Riley Longobardi Region: 2-Gold, 1-Silver, 2-Bronze, State: 2-Gold, 1-Silver, 1-Bronze.
Rodrigo Gutierrez Gonzalez Region: 5-Gold, 2-Silver, State: 4-Gold, 2-Silver.
Michelle Linson Region: 1-Silver, 3-Bronze.
Laurel Morsi (Alternate, received Team Medals).
Sidney Timmons Region: 1-Gold, 2-Bronze, State: 1-Gold.
Rebecca Ellingson Region: 6-Gold, 2-Silver, 2-Bronze, State: 5-Gold, 2-Silver, 2-Bronze.
Megan Mize (Alternate, received Team Medals).

Several students also received overall high score medals which also earned them a scholarship. These individuals were Luke Bitzkie, Samuel Nimmrichter, Christian McKnelly, Riley Longobardi, Rodrigo Gutierrez Gonzalez and Rebecca Ellingson.
