LAKEHILLS CIVIC CENTER will host a Medicare program, where people can learn how to access benefits, on Thursday, May 6, at 11 a.m. There will be additional information on all carriers and OTC catalogs will be provided.
MICO VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT will hold their 57th annual BBQ Fundraiser on Saturday, May 8, at the station, 7121 CR 271, in Mico. The event includes a live auction with a water truck, a silent auction, a bounce house and obstacle course for the kiddos. Raffle tickets are on sale now at the fire station on Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to noon. Tickets will also be available in Laurel Canyon Ranch, 8 a.m. to noon; and in Bear Springs Ranch, at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 10. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5, and you do not have to be present to win. Call 830-751-2658 for more information.
TRIPLE-H EQUITHERAPY will host the 21st annual Trail Ride & Scavenger Hunt fundraiser on Saturday, May 8. Gates will open from 8 a.m. to noon. The trails will open from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The theme is “Honoring Heroes” and there will be a costume contest for horses and riders, with prizes. Horses must have proof of Coggins. Non-riders are welcome and can use walking trails. Fees are: $35 for all ages of riders; $15 for adult non-riders; and $5 for non-riders 12 years and younger. It is a family event, with fun for all. ALAMO RC&D, Senior Assistance Program, continues the Curbside Pantry, Senior Zoom Social Club, and Fun-n-Fitness every month.
Each senior household must pre-register at alamorcd.org. If you have trouble, text 210-548-9248 for assistance.
Registered senior citizens are invited to participate in the free Senior Zoom Social Club. Download the free Zoom app and each will be sent a link. Each monthly Zoom meeting includes fun, friendship, information with guest speakers, social discussions, online games, birthday celebrations and prizes. The next Zoom Social Club meeting is Thursday, May 13, at 2-4 p.m. The guest speaker is Elanie Medina on Weatherization Services provided by AACOG.
The free Zoom Fun-n-Fitness Class for registered seniors combines chair exercises, resistance and motion to music. Classes are every Monday at 1 p.m.
LAKEHILLS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH offers Bread of Life, free community meal, every Monday, following the school schedule, at 5 p.m. Located at 150 Ave. J in Lakehills, the menu varies every week. Donations are gratefully accepted. Call 830-751-2404 for more information.
AMERICAN LEGION POST 410, 147 Legion Dr. in Lakehills, is open from 3 p.m., Fridays through Wednesdays. They serve fundraising home cooked meals every Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m. Each week offers a different dish, with sides and beverage for $8 a plate. Desserts are available for a small amount and diners may eat in or take out.
The Post is selling tickets for the July 4 Gun Raffle Event and the Brick Doll House Drawing. The drawings will take place at the Fourth of July BBQ and Parade. Tickets for the Doll House are $2 each or 3 for $5 and you do not have to be present to win.
The Post is informed that the VA will vaccinate all veterans for Covid-19.

On April 28, Medina Lake is at 33.3 per cent capacity. The lake level is 1025.19 feet, which is down 39.01 feet.
The Medina River has a flow of 8.18 cfs in Bandera, standing 3.26 feet deep at the gage.
