The Latest at the Bandera Library
By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director
What are you summer plans? Believe it or not, summer is rapidly approaching and it’s time to register your kiddos for the 2021 Summer Reading Program at the Bandera Library. Tuesdays beginning June 18 until Aug. 3, kids will enjoy songs, arts and crafts and reading. This year’s theme is Tails and Tales, books about animals! Space is limited so call the library and arrange to have a registration form sent to you.
In-person programs are beginning to meet again.
On Monday afternoons, the Bandera Pokemon League meets from 4:30 - 6 p.m. You can email [email protected] for more information.
Join the Country Music Group for their weekly jam session in the downstairs meeting room on Wednesday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to noon. All skill levels are welcome, and it is acoustic instruments only.
If adventure is what you crave, join the Bandera Dungeons and Dragons group that meets on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
New titles this week include Jake Tapper’s sequel to The Hellfire Club called The Devil May Dance. Set in Washington DC during the 1960s, we meet again with political stars Charlie and Margaret Marder. Attorney General Robert Kennedy has tapped the duo to look into a potential threat centered in glitzy Hollywood. The two set off for California to befriend none other than Frank Sinatra. As a close friend to President John F. Kennedy and rumored mafioso, Margaret and Charlie must keep their heads in a boozy world built on illusion. How can you tell friend from foe when everyone around you is a movie star? Their efforts to stymie an evil plot lands them square in the crosshairs of the newly founded Church of Scientology where the darkest elements of power in Hollywood operate.
The Bandera Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Check out our website www.banderacountylibrary.org for all up-to-date information. Masks are required while you are in the building.
Happy tales, y’all.
