Jesus O. Cardenas

September 30, 1941 – May 15, 2021

Jesus O. Cardenas, 79, of Bandera, passed away on May 15, 2021, in San Antonio. He was born in Hondo to Juan Jose Cardenas and Juanita Ortiz Cardenas on September 30, 1941. He married Maria Socorra on May 10, 1960 in Hondo. They were married 61 years on their anniversary this May.
He went to school in Hondo, and worked as a ranch foreman and also at Boyles Food Store. He was employed as a foreman for Hevenors Lumber and Hardware in Bandera for 19 years. Jesus was involved in Little League in Bandera and active in the community for many years, becoming a great mentor for many.  He was also a big fan and supporter of the Bandera Bulldog High School athletic teams.
Jesus Cardenas was preceeded in death by his parents Juan and Juanita Cardenas; son Jesus Cardenas; brothers Juan Cardenas and David Cardenas; sisters Sopas, Chavela, Grace, Elvida, Angie and Maria.
Jesus Cardenas is survived by his wife Maria Cardenas; daughters Jane Romero (Chris) and Anna Sarabia (Jimmy); sons Johnny Cardenas (Lisa), Mike Cardenas (Desirae), Jesse Cardenas (Georgina), Epi Cardenas (Paty), Gilbert Cardenas (Olivia) and Jeremiah Sierra (Erica); brother Gustavo Cardenas (Nina); sister Ophelia Lopez; 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be held at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera on Monday, May 24, at 4 p.m. A Viewing will be 9 - 10 a.m., on Tuesday, May 25, at Grimes Funeral Chapels, Bandera, with a funeral service at 10 a.m. and burial immediately following at St. Stanislaus New Catholic Cemetery. Rev. Msgr. Frank Kurzaj will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Geronimo Cardenaz, Anulfo Cardenas, Larry Cardenaz, Joe Anthony Guajardo, Joe Robert Guajardo, Agustine DeLeon, Lupe DeLeon and Luis Cardenas.
