Lakehills Area Library Leanings
By Vicki L. George
The Bandera Prophet
Summer reading will begin Monday, June 7, and continue until July 31. Each week the library will provide craft kits, with all supplies included, for ages 2-18 to take home and enjoy. The theme is Tails and Tales, focusing on a fairy tale or an animal. Week one has a Snow White theme, with “mirror, mirror on the wall” as the inspiration. Parents and kids can pick up their crafts each week, with all supplies included, while checking out books to keep the youngsters reading. Register for a reading log, which will enable young participants to win prizes.
The library wants you to know about their services: Notary, fax, copies, printing and assistance with computers. They can answer your questions and point you to reliable sources. Of course, they have a huge selection of books, audio books, and DVDs; as well as free downloadable books. They offer free WiFi, inside during hours, or in the parking lot any time.
The library welcomes your suggestions for the future and looks forward to serving you.
The daytime book club now meets in person on the back porch, without masks. It meets the second Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. On Tuesday, June 8, the book to be discussed is The Huntress by Katie Quinn. The club welcomes suggestions for future reading.
The library’s book sales are the first Saturday of every month. The library offers books and DVDs for sale: Hardcover books and DVDs are $1.50; paperbacks and children’s books are 50 cents.
The library is actively seeking new board members. You can pick up a board application at the front desk.
