Bandera All Class Reunion Weekend 2021 Schedule of Events
By David Lee Jureczki
Bandera All Class Reunion
We’re making progress towards the BACR weekend and I am excited about the addition of the rodeo on Friday. You will be given a discounted rate and a special wristband for entry, if you are a part of the BACR group.
June 11-13
PLEASE NOTE THAT (this year) WE WILL NOT BE ENCOURAGING A POT LUCK MEAL (so come already fed). But you are welcome to bring your own food and drink for yourself, or to share with your friends, if you choose.
We will supply bottled water and some drinks.
(Some daytime events may change, I will post any changes as they occur)
Friday June 11:
6 - 7:30 p.m.: Meet & Greet at Mansfield Park Pavilion (look for the large covered patio, past the arena). There will be a food truck at the rodeo or bring your own snacks. Also bring a folding chair and your ice chest to the Pavilion (won’t allow ice chests into rodeo). Some door prizes (from local merchants) are available for those who have bought wristbands to attend the rodeo. The rodeo begins at 7:30. I encourage you to enjoy the performance (Small fee for entry) or head out to join others at the 11th Street for music and dancing (live music begins approximately 8 p.m.)
The Dogfest group will be firing up the BBQ pits at the 11th Street Cowboy Bar. Ready for your steak and potato (you bring) to go with your favorite beverage (you buy). Music begins around 8.
June 12, Saturday
8 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Always a good idea to start the day at the OST, or Don Chepes where you can have breakfast and watch Bandera “wake up” through the big windows facing Main Street. Then go have some fun at the River, the City Park or at many of the popular river spots. Get there early to be able to stake claim to to your favorite spot. Bring a lawn chair and a float or just sit and visit while watching the river flow. Remember to bring drinks, snacks & sunscreen. Old time group tube floats are highly encouraged (organize your friends!).
(Medina River outfitters 830-796-3600 for drop off and pick up).
Bandera Natural History Museum is an educational treasure with life sized dinosaurs designed by the group who designed the Jurassic Park stars 830-328-5090.
HIGH NOON GUNFIGHTERS at Rattlesnake Ridge (Bandera Visitor Center. Shows at 11 a.m. and 1 pm.) Get there early to visit the Western Heritage Antique Mall & browse their uniquely interesting shops.
A great lunch spot is TJ’s Old Forge (807 Main) or Don Chepes 1/2 block north.
5-9 p.m.: Annual Social Gathering at Pioneer RV Event center. (This year we will have an honor system donation box at the door. Cash and checks only. We will be contributing to two local charities the Bandera Boys and Girls club and the Silver Sage senior center. Checks may be made payable directly to them.) A great venue to see your friends and schoolmates, in air conditioned comfort (also outdoor patio space) while you visit with your schoolmates.
Door prizes (donated by schoolmates and local business) will be given out during the evening.
9 p.m. and beyond: Join the live music at the 11th Street (Cover may apply)
June 13: Sunday morning 10 a.m. Join us for a Prayer/Memorial Service at the Bandera City Park dam, as we pray and remember our friends, faculty and schoolmates, who have passed on (Donations to offset costs are accepted on site).
We look forward to seeing you,
The Bandera All Class Reunion Team.
