Lakehills Area Library Leanings
By Vicki L. George
The Bandera Prophet
Summer Reading is here. The theme is Tails & Tales and each week will focus on a fairy tale or an animal. This week it is the Little Mermaid; older youngsters will make an appropriately inspired craft and preschoolers will make a coral craft.
Next week the kids will grow their own beanstalks, inspired by Jack and the Beanstalk.
Parents can register their kiddos for summer reading at the library and get the child’s reading log. When the young one completes the log, he or she will be able to pick a prize from the prize box. The library has a huge selection of books for children of all ages.
John Elliott is now displaying some of his homemade woodcraft items in the display case. The public is invited to view his work during library hours over the next few weeks.
The library would love to display your collection. If you have something to share, contact the library to set up a time to be the next guest artist.
Hill Country Elementary is holding their Back to School Drive for the PTO in the library conference room on Thursday, June 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Besides memberships, they will sell shirts, snow cones and popcorn.
The daytime book club has resumed. They will meet the second Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the library conference room. The selection for July 13 is The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson. All are welcome to join the group.
The Lakehills Area Library’s hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is located at 7200 FM 1283 and the phone number is 830-510-2777.
