Lakehills Area Library Leanings

By Dianna Landes
Lakehills Area Library Director

The library First Saturday book sales have resumed. Our next sale is Aug. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hardbacks for only $1.50, children's books and soft covers are 50 cents. All money raised by our book sales goes to fund library programs and materials.
Our preschool story time starting on Sept. 8, at 10:30 a.m. Every Wednesday, Miss Dianna will read books, sing songs and make preschool crafts designed to teach basic skills to the kids so they are school ready. Children of all ages are invited to join us. Weather permitting, we will be hosting our story time outdoors on our back porch.
Live book club has resumed. Book club meets the second Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. at the library. On Aug. 10, they will discuss The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson.
The Lakehills Area Library Board will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 4:30 p.m., in the library meeting room. Meetings are open to the public. If you are interested in joining the library board to help the library to grow and serve our community, please come by the library and pick up an application.
Yoga is coming. A free yoga class for all ages will begin on Thursday, Aug. 12, at 10:30 a.m., in the Lakehills Library Meeting Room. Please bring a mat and water. Space is limited so we ask that you sign up with the library by calling 830-510-2777 or email Dianna at lakehillslibrary@gmail.com.
The library provides access to FamilySearch and Ancestry with a library card. You can access Ancestry at home by logging into our catalog and FamilySearch has some documents that can only be viewed at a FamilySearch Library, which Lakehills Library is. The library also offers space and laptops for use by anyone who would like to join a Genealogy club. We are currently looking for anyone interested in meeting to share or learn information about how to search for documents to grow their family tree. Please contact the library if you are interested.
The Lakehills Area Library is at 7200 FM 1283. Hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
