Medina opened their season with a resounding 72-46 win over Cherokee.
No stats were available.
The Bobcats will take a road trip Friday night to face the Williamson County (Austin area)Home School Falcons.
The Falcons lost their season opener by a 54-0 score to Veritas Academy.

Medina ISD will present the 2021-2022 Cheer, Cross Country, Football and Volleyball teams to the community on Thursday, Sept. 2, at 6:30 p.m. in Bobcat Stadium.

Cross Country
Competing against 18 other schools, many of them 6A and 5A schools, Bandera's four XC teams fared well at the Austin Westlake Chapparal Invitational this past Friday.
The Lady Bulldog varsity finished in 12th overall, just behind Leander Rouse.
Hannah Edwards and Raelynn Butler led the way for Bandera's with Danielle Gonzales, Makayla Gonzales and Emily Presa also scoring points.

The JV Lady Bulldogs finished sixth in a field of 18, with a strong showing led by four freshmen and a sophomore.
Jazlyn Dickerson, Kierstin Brown, Maddie Lewis and  Gabby Barrera, all freshmen along with Laney Bowman scored points in the event.

In boys varsity 5K action, the Bulldogs finished 11th led by returners Braden Cox (29th), Ethan Brown (32nd) and  Mario Casas (39th). Cox ran 16:58, Brown finished in 17:10, and Casas had a 17:20, all personal bests for each runner. Ruben Ruiz-Palacios (104th) with a 18:48 and Hudson Jackson (107th) running a 18:50, finished the points scorers for Bandera, both also running personal bests.
Mack Robinson, Jacob Haas, Logan Sadler and Reese Mazurek also ran for Bandera, with all four runners setting personal records.

The Bulldog JV competed in a two mile event and ended up in 13th place out of 19 teams.
Juan Reyna, with a 13:03, was the top finisher for Bandera and was followed by Kyle Moore (13:13), Cody Jurezcki (13:16), Ashton Robinson (13:24) and Jayden Patterson (13:48) to score  points. Other runners were Michael Verhey, Lane TImmons, Nino Martinez and Josh Nimmrichter.
Bulldog XC will travel to San Antonio for the FEAST Patriot race Saturday.

Volleyball

Bandera Middle School  took on the visiting Comfort Deer in volleyball action Thursday evening.
The seventh grade girls "B" team lost to Comfort in close sets. Bandera was led by Mylaa Cromwell and Rebekha Gomez.
In seventh grade "A" team action, the Lady Bulldogs made several runs of five or more points and communicated well together. The crowd went wild watching Bandera, led by Hannah Halsey, Samatha Sardo and Jessi Battle, shut Comfort out in straight sets, 2-0.
The girls would like to share a special thank you to the Boy’s coaching staff for their support for their first game. They would also like to thank the seventh graders present for being loud, supportive and showing up to cheer on their classmates.
The eighth grade "B" team also won in straight sets, 25-12 and 25-14, in spite of first game jitters. Strong serving and disciplined defense helped Bandera cruise to a quick win.
In eighth grade "A" team action, Bandera took the win in three sets. After winning the first set 25-21, Comfort took the second set, 25-19 to force a third set.
The Lady Bulldogs prevailed in the third set, 15-8, to get the win.
