Outlaw Barber Shop has new location

By Vicki L. George
The Bandera Prophet

The Outlaw Barber Shop, currently located at 9615 FM 1283 in Lakehills, is moving “down the road a piece.”
The owners, Garrett and Tara Worley Hagendorf, recently acquired the property at 9084 FM 1283 and have the new hot-pink shop building installed. They are busy completing the interior and will celebrate their Grand Opening in style on Saturday, Oct. 2, from noon to 3 p.m.
Tara Hagendorf says this is her dream — to own her own place, with her shop and her home together. She has been in business as Outlaw Barber Shop since 2018 and has rented space in three locations. She won’t have to move again.
The Hagendorfs purchased a modular home, which will be delivered in a few weeks. Garrett owns an sealcoat and asphalt business, Hill Country Sealcoat & Asphalt, and will make the parking area user friendly.
While Garrett hails from Bandera, having grown up here, Tara was born in San Antonio. They have four children: Angel is 18; Jayden is 16; Ali is 12; and Remi is 11. Ali works with her mom as receptionist for the shop.
Tara has been in the beauty business almost 18 years and she loves fixing people’s hair.
“I’ll continue to cut hair until my hands don’t work anymore,” she said, adding she is currently in her last year of law school.
If all goes according to plan, she should graduate in April. She is eager to pass the bar exam and enter into family law with her primary purpose of advocating for children.
“I like to support the community. That’s why I support first responders and seniors. I love doing hair,” she said.
To show her support, she keeps her haircut prices low for those clients.
The Hagendorfs invite the public to their Grand Opening at their new location, 9084 FM 1283, on Oct. 2, at noon. They will provide food and water; they ask that attendees BYOB and bring a chair. They will provide live entertainment by the Spoonlickers and there will be a few vendors participating. In addition, they will raffle off some door prizes.
The shop will remain open at 9615 FM 1283 until Oct.1. They are open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hair appointments can be made online at Outlawbarbershop.setmore.com.
For more information, call the shop at 210-325-6692.
