Bulldog XC teams medal in Corpus Christi

Bandera's varsity cross-country teams made their annual trek to Corpus Christi to run in the Texas A&M-CC CIslander Splash this past weekend.
Boys
In the 34-team field for the Medium/Small schools 5K event, Bandera's Bulldogs finished third with team bronze, falling only to LaVernia and St. Joseph Academy, but edging out rival Boerne by a single point to get on the podium.
Braden Cox and Ethan Brown had top seven finishes to lead Bandera with Cox's fourth place time of 17:36.32 slightly bettering Brown's seventh place time of 17:48.93.
Mariano Casas ran a good time of 19:07.93 to finish 25th, Hudson Jackson was 41st with a 19:50.69 and Reese Mazurek ran 20.31.56 as the final points scorer for Bandera. Mazurek had played in the Bulldogs win over Comfort Friday night and had to get to Corpus after the game to compete on Saturday.
Brackett's Abraham Morales took the win in 17:00.79.
Also running for Bandera were Albert Robinson, Jacob Haas and Cody Jureczki.

Girls
The Lady Bulldogs finished in third place behind two other talented and quick squads in La Feria and CC Tuloso-Midway.
La Feria set the bar with 53 points, outdistancing Tuloso-Midway with 80 points and Bandera with 156. A total of 40 teams were entered in the medium/small school race
Leading the way for the Lady Bulldogs was Raelynn Butler with an individual silver for her second place finish. Butler has been hot lately and she ran a very good 12:34.89 for the two mile distance, one of only three runners under the 13 minute mark.
Hannah Edwards, who was absent for the Bandera City Park event last week, finished a strong eighth overall with a 13:16.60 and Bandera's number three runner was Gracie Bankston in 37th with a 14:04.61. Also scoring for Bandera were Emily Presa in 58th with a 14:26.61 and Kierstin Brown in 64th with a 14:33.65.
Other runners in the 334 runner field for Bandera were Trinity Butler, Danielle Gonzales, Makayla Gonzales, Carlye Niccum and Jazlyn Dickerson.
La Feria's Liana Navarro won the event with a blistering 11:55.10.
