PIPE CREEK VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT will hold their annual fundraising BBQ, Raffle and Market Day on Sunday, Oct. 10, starting at 11 a.m. Tickets are on sale now on the website and at Friday night Bingo. For $12 a plate you get brisket or sausage, beans, potato salad, and a drink. Desserts will be available, as well vendors, and a bounce house for the kiddos. MEDINA LAKE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT will hold their annual fundraising BBQ, raffle, and auction on Saturday, Oct. 16, starting at 11 a.m., at the fire station, 10660 PR 37 in Lakehills. LAKEHILLS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH will host their annual Chicken/Sausage BBQ on Sunday, Oct. 24, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the church, 8th St. & Ave. J, Lakehills. It will be drive-through only. A plate will cost $13 and will include a half chicken, sausage, sides and dessert. All proceeds will benefit Christmas for Community Children.
ALAMO AREA COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS, AACOG, reminds senior citizens that Medicare Open Enrollment begins Oct. 15. Anyone needing help starting Medicare or changing Medicare plans or choosing a Prescription Drug Plan, can call for free help at 210-477-3275 or 866-231-4922.

Located at Hwy. 16 and Phil’s Rd., in Pipe Creek, admission is $6 per person, children 2 and under are free. Tickets may be purchased with cash or all major credit cards. Come win your Thanksgiving turkey and enjoy food, market day vendors, children’s activities, and a silent auction. There will also be a drawing for an AR-15 rifle. The TWIGS program for elementary age kiddos is held after school every Monday of the school year.
In addition, the church has begun to offer a Drive-Thru Food Pantry every other Friday, from 10 a.m. to noon, or until the food runs out. The next date is Oct. 1. Call 830-751-2404 for more information.
PIPE CREEK PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, known as the Little Rock Church, 8589 Hwy. 16 South, opened their Little Rock Cafe, every Wednesday on school days, from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Complete meals are $7 for adults, which includes drink and dessert, and $3 for children. Each week offers a different entree. The public is invited to enjoy the food and the fellowship.
AMERICAN LEGION POST 410, 147 Legion Dr. in Lakehills, serves home cooked meals every Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m. Each week offers a different dish, with sides and beverage for $8 a plate. Desserts are available for a small amount and diners may eat in or take out. The funds raised support the Post for the benefit of the community.
The Post is open to the public every day except Thursdays, from 4 p.m. All are welcome.

The LAKEHILLS AREA LIBRARY is seeking vendors for their Holiday Market to be held on Nov. 13. They are looking for local arts, crafts, gifts, food items and more. On Oct. 4, Medina Lake is at 29.0 per cent capacity. The lake level is 1020.99 feet, which is down 43.21 feet.
The Medina River has a flow of 11.6 cfs in Bandera, standing 3.34 feet deep at the gage.
