MEDINA LAKE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT will hold their annual fundraising BBQ, raffle, and auction on Saturday, Oct. 16, starting at 11 a.m., at the fire station, 10660 PR 37 in Lakehills. Brisket and sausage are on the menu, along with all the trimmings. Desserts will be available. If you wish to donate an auction item, call 830-688-9987.
PIPE CREEK DANCE HALL MARKET DAY happens on Saturday, Oct. 16 at the corner of Hwy. 16 and FM 1283, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Live music at outdoor stage with plenty of room to dance, barbecue, burgers, nachos, etc. from vendors, lots of merchandise for all you Christmas shoppers.
PRE-ELECTION COMMUNITY MEETING will be held on Sunday, Oct. 17, at 4:30 p.m., in the Lakehills Community Center, 11225 PR 37, Lakehills. This is an opportunity to meet the candidates for Bandera ISD Trustee and for the Bandera City Council seats; as well as learning about the eight proposed amendments to our Texas constitution.
EARLY VOTING begins Monday, Oct. 18 and is available weekdays through Friday, Oct. 29. It will held in three locations in Bandera County: Lakehills Area Library, 7200 FM 1283; Election Office, Ray Mauer Bldg, 403 12th St, Bandera; and Medina Annex, 161 E. Parker St, Medina. The hours are Mondays and Wednesdays through Fridays, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. On Tuesdays, the hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters must bring photo IDs with them.
LAKEHILLS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH will host their annual Chicken/Sausage BBQ on Sunday, Oct. 24, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the church, 8th St. & Ave. J, Lakehills. It will be drive-through only. A plate will cost $13 and will include a half chicken, sausage, sides and dessert. All proceeds will benefit Christmas for Community Children.
LAKEHILLS LAST SATURDAY FALL MARKET is Saturday, Oct. 30, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Lakehills Community Center, 11225 PR 37. Free parking, free admission, many vendors, food and fun. More goodies for all you Christmas shoppers.
PIPE CREEK PUMPKIN PATCH is open every weekend during October, 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It offers many activities for kiddos 10 years and younger. Located at Hwy. 16 and Phil’s Rd., in Pipe Creek, admission is $6 per person, children 2 and under are free. Tickets may be purchased with cash or all major credit cards. IN LIEU OF “TRICK OR TREAT” the Lakehills Area Library will provide treats for the kiddos at the library, 7200 FM 1283, 5 to 7 p.m.
The Western Heritage Cowboy Church is having a Cowboy Carnival for the youngsters, at the church, 7146 FM 1283, 6:30 to 8 p.m.
CASTLE LAKE RANCH VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT has returned with their 35th Annual Turkey Shoot on Saturday, Nov. 6, rain or shine. Come win your Thanksgiving turkey and enjoy food, market day vendors, children’s activities, and a silent auction. There will also be a drawing for an AR-15 rifle. AMERICAN LEGION POST 410, 147 Legion Dr. in Lakehills, serves home cooked meals every Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m. Each week offers a different dish, with sides and beverage for $8 a plate. Desserts are available for a small amount and diners may eat in or take out. The funds raised support the Post for the benefit of the community.
The Post is open to the public every day except Thursdays, from 4 p.m. All are welcome.

The LAKEHILLS AREA LIBRARY is seeking vendors for their Holiday Market to be held on Nov. 13. They are looking for local arts, crafts, gifts, food items and more. Outdoor spaces are $20; porch spaces are $25; and indoor spaces are $25. Table rentals are $10, where available. Contact the library for more information: 830-510-2777, or stop by at 7200 FM 1283.

On October 10, Medina Lake is at 28.8 per cent capacity. The lake level is 1020.76 feet, which is down 43.44 feet.
The Medina River has a flow of 7.95 cfs in Bandera, standing 3.35 feet deep at the gage.
