Bandera prepares for Nightmare on Maple Street

By Jessica Nohealapa’ahi
The Bandera Prophet

The schedule for Bandera’s traditional Halloween haunt is set for All Hallow’s Eve. Beginning at 5 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 31, ghouls young and old may enter City Park for a free, family-friendly evening.
Hosted by the Bandera Marshal’s Office, the Nightmare on Maple Street Trunk or Treat is the Hill Country’s most spooky and festive event of the season. Last year, some activities were held back due to Covid concerns and precautions. This year they’re returning and include costume contests, best trunk contests, bounce houses, DJ Big E, door prizes and more.
The City Park will open at 10 a.m. for people to set up their Trunk or Treat booths (no sign-up required), and will close at 4:30 p.m. for all vehicle traffic. Gates open at 5 p.m.
Here’s the schedule of activities at Pavilion #1 (the covered pavilion closest to the front restrooms in the park):
7:30 p.m. - Costume contest judging
7:45 p.m. - Miss Kelly's Dance Studio presentation
8 p.m. - Drawing for door prizes
8:30 p.m. - Award presentation for costume contest and Trunk or Treat booths
9 p.m. - Event ends

For sponsorship information, or to make a donation, call 830-460-7172 or 361-537-3501.
