Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library

By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director

There are some spots left for our first ever Coding Academy program on Thursday, Nov. 4, from 10 a.m. to noon. Our new partner, SmartCode Coding Academy, will host monthly coding learning sessions for children aged 6 and up. Each month will feature a facet of computer coding including coding, game design, Minecraft, animation, and videography. The list goes on!
After a year long hiatus from meeting in person, the Community Council of South Central Texas will be taking appointments here at the Bandera Library. The Community Council is dedicated to connecting vulnerable and at-risk families of South Central Texas to services and resources that can allow them to achieve self-sufficiency. If you or someone you know needs help with things like rent or utilities assistance, call the library to get more information and set up an appointment with our Community Council partner. In person appointments will be available on Fridays in the Downstairs meeting room, but must be made in advance. Contact the library for more information.
Early voting is underway until Oct. 29 and Election Day is Nov. 2. The non-partisan Voters Guides produced by the League of Women Voters are available for free in both English and Spanish here at the library. The voter guides have explanations for the constitutional amendments on the ballot and bios for every candidate running. These packets are also helpful sources of information on the voting process including what kinds of IDs are acceptable at the polling place.
The Bandera Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Masks are recommended while in the library building. Check out our website www.banderacountylibrary.org for all up-to-date information.
Happy tales, y’all.
