The LAKEHILLS AREA LIBRARY will host a Holiday Market to be held on Saturday, Nov. 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be local vendors of arts, crafts, gifts, food items and more. Coffee and breakfast tacos by the board members. Contact the library for more information: 830-510-2777, or stop by at 7200 FM 1283. This is yet another opportunity for Christmas shopping, while supporting the library as well as our local artisans.
VETERANS DAY is a federal holiday in the United Staes observed annually on November 11, for honoring military veterans, that is, persons who have served in the United States Armed Forces (and were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable). It is celebrated to mark the anniversary of the end of World War I. Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect.
Veterans Day is distinct from Memorial Day. Veterans Day celebrates the service of all US military veterans, while Memorial Day honors those who had died while in military service. Armed Forces Day, also in May, honors whose who are currently serving the in US military.
AMERICAN LEGION POST 410 is hosting a free dinner for veterans and their spouses on Thursday, Nov. 11, starting at 6 p.m. with a program, meal at 6:30. The meal includes baked ham, taters and gravy, green beans, rolls, and dessert. All veterans and spouses are welcome to gather at the Post, 147 Legion Drive, Lakehills.
AMERICAN LEGION POST 410, 147 Legion Dr. in Lakehills, serves home cooked meals every Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m. Each week offers a different dish, with sides and beverage for $8 a plate. Desserts are available for a small amount and diners may eat in or take out. The funds raised support the Post for the benefit of the community.
The Post is open to the public every day except Thursdays, from 4 p.m. All are welcome.

TEXAS VETERANS NETWORK offers rides to veterans and their families, to shop, doctor’s appointments, etc. For more information, call 888-724-8337.
LAKEHILLS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 150 Ave. J in Lakehills, offers a free drive-through community meal, Bread of Life, every Monday, at 5:30 p.m.
The TWIGS program for elementary age kiddos is every Monday, after school. For more information, call Kathryn Ivy at 210-748-4890.
In addition, the church has begun to offer a Drive-Thru Food Pantry every other Friday, from 10 a.m. to noon, or until the food runs out. Call 830-751-2404 for more information.
ALAMO RC&D, Senior Assistance Program, continues the Senior Walk-In Pantry every month.
Each senior household must pre-register at alamorcd.org now for 2022. If you have trouble, text 210-548-9248 for assistance.
The next Food Pantry distribution will be held on Thursday, Nov. 11, 1-2:30 p.m., at The Way Church, 7789 FM 1283. The pantry will be open; masks and distancing required. Call for more information.
Alamo RC&D seeks donations for the purchase of food. Donors can help on the website: alamorcd.org. The organization is a 501(c)3 non-profit so all donations are tax deductible.
ALAMO RC&D is also hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 11, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., in the fellowship hall of The Way Church, 7789 FM 1283. It will be a time of food, fun, and fellowship in for all the volunteers.

On November 9, Medina Lake is at 27.9 per cent capacity. The lake level is 1019.81 feet, which is down 44.39 feet.
The Medina River has a flow of 20.8 cfs in Bandera, standing 3.51 feet deep at the gage.
