JV Football
For the first time in quite a while, the JV Bulldogs have a winning record after defeating the Pearsall Mavericks 46-6 last Thursday on the road, to end the season at 5-4.
Quarterback Dylan Peace went 4-6 for 100 yards and three touchdowns to lead Bandera to the victory. Peace found Riley Haley for two scores and Zach Quesnot for the other.
Jake Lannon led the ground attack with a 12 carries for 80 yards performance and a rushing touchdown and Adan Ramos added 63 yards and a score with Peace gaining 22 yards, with Kenneth Seth, Quesnot and Micah McCreary adding another 23 yards between them.
“This was the program’s best JV winning percentage in several years and several players are expected to step up and fill key roles at the varsity level next season.
Our coaching staff is excited about the team’s potential after another year in the off-season program,” coach Brady Keane said.
Cross Country
The Bandera cross-country teams finished sixth and tenth at the State Meet held at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock last week.
Girls
The Lady Bulldogs continued their appearances at state with a tenth place finish, edging out Huffman-Hargrave by a single point, 245 to 246. Raelynn Butler, running her last race as a Bulldog, finished a strong 11th overall, finishing in 11:52.9 for the 3200m distance. Hannah Edwards, also in her last race, ran a 12:33.1 to finish in 46th, Gracie Bankston was in 97th running a 12:58.8 and Trinity Butler was in at 13:17.4. Bandera’s final points scorer was Kierstin Brown, 113th in at 13:21.9.
Emily Pressa and Carlye Niccum also ran, finishing in 13:27.5 and 13:52.8 respectively.

Boys
The Bulldogs capped their best season in recent memory as they finished in sixth place, just 11 points behind Melissa, the fifth place team.
Braden Cox was Bandera’s lead runner with an 22th overall placing for the 5K race. He was followed by Felix Diaz, Ethan Brown, Hudson Jackson and Albert Robinson as the points scorers for Bandera. Jacob Haas and Reese Mazurek also ran for Bandera.

The Medina Bobcats, 5-4 (4-0) are District Champs!
Medina remained unbeaten in District 16-1A play with a 76-36 away victory over Nueces County Friday night to win the district championship.
The Bobcats will now face the 15th ranked, 7-2 (2-1) Lometa Hornets in the first round of the UIL playoffs Thursday night in Fredericksburg at 7:30 p.m.

Girls
The Lady Bobcats finished 12th out of 16 teams at the UIL State Championship meet last Friday with 236 points.
Charli McCabe led the way for Medina with a 13:13.77 for the 3200m course, finishing 23rd overall. Yadira Aguilar was the second finisher for Medina in 57th place running 13:49.78 with Ahnika Grassie in 72nd with a 14:02.11, Hallie Kunz in 105th at 14:39.79 and Kytlin Peterson running a 15:29.99 to place 134 were the final points scorers.
Kaydence Tilghman and Victoria Taccetta also ran for Medina, running 16:06.44 and 17:12.32
respectively.
Boys
Joe Preston, competing as an individual, was 44th overall with a 18:34.40 in the field of 150 runners.
Utopia ISD

Girls
Lady Buff Cherish Dunlap, running as an individual, finished 14th overall at the UIL State Championship meet.
Dunlap finished the 3200m course with a 13:07.44 in the field of 148 runners.
Boys
The Buffs finished in 16th as a team at State, but the team qualifying for and competing at the meet was a positive for the program.
Luke Leavelle was 67th in the field of 150 runners with a 18:57.50 to lead the way for Utopia.
Taylor Wiecamp was a top 100 finisher in 98th running 19:27.80 and Vinny Reyes checked in with a 20:05.20 to finish 115th. Fischer McCarty finished in 21:34.50 and Jonnathan Cazares ran 22:44.50 to finish 136th and 145th respectively. Hunter Richardz was 148th with a 22:55.0 and Jordan Cervera came in at 25:41.30 to round out Team Utopia.
