Bulldog varsity gets bitten by Wolves in Double OT
Team suffers first loss of season

Bandera’s Bulldogs took to the road Saturday to take on the Dilley Wolves in a little holiday basketball action.
Varsity
After getting off to a slow start coming out of the Thanksgiving Break, the Bandera varsity boys basketball team stormed back in the second half to force a pair of overtime periods before ultimately falling to Dilley, 79-73 in double overtime Saturday afternoon. It was the team's first loss of the season.
The Bulldogs struggled against the Wolves’ size in the first half as offensive rebounds and second-chance points allowed Dilley to take control of the game in the early going.
After allowing 37 first-half points, Bandera had a newfound defensive focus in the second half and held the Wolves to ju st 23 total points in the third and fourth quarters while working to fight back from a 20-point deficit to tie the game in the final seconds.
Junior point guard Noah Barnett got an offensive rebound and hit a 3-point shot with 26 seconds remaining in the fourth to tie the game at 60-60. The Bulldogs got a pair of stops in the final seconds to force over time, but Dilley began to find success at the foul line as the Wolves shot 56 total free throws, including 14 in the fourth quarter and 27 in two four-minute overtime periods.
Braden Cox hit a shot at the buzzer of the first OT to send the game to the second overtime period before Bandera’s comeback effort ran out of steam, and the Wolves escaped with a win.
Barnett finished with an impressive 26 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals to lead the way for Bandera, while senior Ryan Perez tallied double digit rebounds for the third time in four games to finish with 8 points and 14 boards.

JV
The Bandera JV boys basketball team stayed hot and picked up its second consecutive win with a 51-26 thrashing of Dilley on Saturday.
Hank Pate scored a team high 13 points to lead the way for Bandera while Alex Dirck added 12 points.
Bandera held Dilley to seven first half points and did a good job of forcing turnovers to create scoring opportunities in transition.
The Bulldogs moved to 3-1 on the season.

Freshmen
The Bandera freshmen boys basketball team bounced back from its first loss of the year with a 46-3 win over Dilley to move to 3-1 on the season.
The Bulldogs went on a 17-0 run to start the game, using suffocating defense to prevent the Wolves from having a single clean shot at the basket in the first eight minutes. Dilley’s only basket of the game came on a desperation 3-point heave in the second quarter.
Bandera shut out the Wolves through the final two periods of the game. Jace Knowles finished with a game-high 16 points to lead the way for Bandera.
