Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library

By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director

Have been to the library recently? Thanks to a grant from the Hal and Charlie Peterson Foundation, the Bandera Library has installed automatic doors for both the main entrance and the entrance to our Downstairs Meeting Room. This will make entering and exiting the library more handicap accessible or for those who are laden down with stacks of books. Make sure to use the buttons when entering and exiting. The grant included funds for even more updates to the library’s building so stay tuned. Thank you to the Peterson Foundation for supporting the Bandera Public Library!
Today from 2 - 6 p.m. is our Book Talk and Demo with the Tina Melo Project Runway. This is a Montessori style workshop that teaches kids how to make their own clothing. Come by today. Next Thursday, Jan. 27, is a visit by Amazon.com bestselling author Gail Kittleson. Gail’s newest novel “Land that I Love” is set in the Texas Hill Country during World War II. It is a sweeping novel of love and loss, friendship and animosity; family function and dysfunction and how people cope during times of war and struggle. Come by from 3 - 6 p.m. to meet the author and have a copy of her book signed.
New titles this week include Lisa Gardner’s latest thriller titled “One Step Too Far.” Second in the Frankie Elkin series, this book follows Frankie as she goes to the woods to search for a missing man. What she finds is the shocking truth why he went missing in the first place. Frankie herself is a recovering alcoholic whose penance is a drive to search for people whose cases have been abandoned. The missing young man was last seen entering a national forest, but the law enforcement has abandoned the search. When more people begin to vanish, Frankie finds out just how dark the forest can be.
The Bandera Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Masks are recommended while in the library building. Check out our website www.banderacountylibrary.org for all up-to-date information.
