TEXAS INDEPENDENCE DAY will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 2. In 1836 we officially adopted the Texas Declaration of Independence, severing ties with Mexico, the document being signed by 59 settlers. Thus, we became the Republic of Texas, a sovereign nation. March 2 is an official holiday in Texas.
LAKEHILLS COMMUNITY CENTER will hold the annual Membership Drive & Dinner on Thursday, March 10, beginning at 6 p.m. The meal is for members and those who wish to join, or renew, may pay their dues that evening; $15 per person; cash, cards or checks.
The Center hosts many activities for our community: community meetings, Children’s Christmas Party, seminars, exercise classes, family activity nights, blood drives, crafts classes, New Year’s Eve Dance, food distributions, bread making, 4-H meetings, and others. It is home to the Cajun Festival every year. And it is available to rent for special events, meetings or presentations.

PIPE CREEK COMMUNITY CENTER, 165 FM 1283 or 10162 Hwy. 16S, will hold the annual Potluck and Bunco Fellowship on Sunday, March 13, at 5 p.m. The fundraising meeting will be at 4:15 p.m. The meeting, potluck and bunco will take place in the main room. They ask that members bring a dish for the meal. Bunco will be after the meal and prizes will be awarded; donated prizes will be appreciated. LAKEHILLS FARMERS MARKET, 101 Center St. in Lakehills, will open for business on Saturday, March 5. They will offer discounts to veterans. They are looking for more vendors. For more information, call 830-205-3091.
AMERICAN LEGION POST 410, 147 Legion Dr. in Lakehills, serves home cooked meals Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. Each week features a different entree, sides and beverage for $8 a plate. Desserts are available. The funds support community projects.
The Post is open to the public every day except Thursdays, from 3 p.m. All are welcome.

LAKEHILLS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 150 Ave. J in Lakehills, offers a free community meal, Bread of Life, every Monday on school days, at 5 p.m.
The TWIGS program for Hill Country Elementary school kiddos is every Monday, after school. For more information, call Kathryn Ivy at 210-748-4890.
The church has a Drive-Thru Food Pantry every other Thursday, from 10 a.m., until the food runs out. Call 830-751-2404 for more information.
PIPE CREEK PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, the Little Rock Church, 8589 Hwy. 16 S., offers the Little Rock Cafe, every Wednesday on school days, from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Meals are $7 for adults, which includes drink and dessert, and $3 for children. LAKE LEVEL
On February 28, Medina Lake is at 24.6 per cent capacity. The lake level is 1016.16 feet, which is down 48.04 feet.
The Medina River has a flow of 15.2 cfs in Bandera, standing 3.43 feet deep at the gage.
