Baseball
Bandera’s home and home series last week with Wimberley was rough, losing to the Texans there Tuesday and then falling on Friday in Bandera.
Tuesday saw the Texans jump out to an early 9-0 lead after two innings. They added seven more in the third and nine in the fourth to bring the game to an early close after the top of the fifth with a 25-0 lead.
Wimberley was credited with 17 hits for the game and Randon Wheeler had both hits for Bandera.
Friday saw the Texans go up 5-0 in the first on their way to a 12-1 win. Bandera’s only run came in the bottom of the second and the Texans scored three in the top of the seventh to pad their lead.
The Bulldogs had seven hits and four errors on the night.
Bandera will have another home and home this week with Davenport. Tuesday’s game will be at Bulldog Field and Friday will be at the Wolves home field.
Softball
It was a shootout at Lady Bulldog Field Friday as visiting Wimberley and Bandera combined for 39 runs and 37 hits with the visitors taking a 22-17 decision in one of the highest scoring games of the season.
Bandera took an early 6-1 lead after three before Wimberley charged back with seven runs in the top of the fourth to start the fireworks.
Wimberley padded their lead in the sixth adding another eight runs. Bandera tried to mount a comeback but fell just short, scoring five in the bottom of the seventh.
Bandera used the pitch by committee method with April Rodriguez, Aubrey Mangold and Cailin Ortiz in the circle with Mangold and Ortiz recording seven strikeouts between them.
Rodriguez helped the cause with four hits on the night.
Bandera will take on Davenport there Tuesday and host Canyon Lake Thursday at home.

Golf
The Bulldog Golf teams are finished for the season after the district match at the familiar Buckhorn Golf Course in Comfort last week.
Maryssa Fernandez was the Lady Bulldogs low scorer on day one with a 104 and Katie Dibrell shot a 102 on the second day for low score on the team.
The Bulldogs fared better but still did not advance. As a team, Bandera shot a 360 for the first round with Jesse Cardenas leading the way with an 82 in adverse conditions.
In better weather on day two, Cardenas shot a 78, Trevor D’Spain carded an 81, Tristan Stoops an 82 and Josh Staples followed with a 96 for a team total of 337.
