Local solar company donates system to Bandera ISD
Texas Solar President and CEO Mike Sardo, a Lakehills resident, has donated a 22.4 kilowatt solar system to Bandera ISD that will provide energy savings to the district and be used as an educational tool for students.
The gift from Texas Solar, that is being installed at Bandera High School, is made up of 68 Panasonic 330 watt modules and an Enphase Inverter and is accompanied by a 25-year manufacturers warranty. The solar system is expected to produce over 30,000 kWh of energy for Bandera High School while making a significant environmental
impact on the community.
“This donation means a lot to Bandera ISD. One, this means energy savings for the district. Two, we can incorporate this with our CTE (Career and Technical Education) program, they will be able to monitor the output and monitor how much energy we are using. The biggest thing is we are living our small town values, we have a family that lives here, with children in our schools, and they believe in what we are doing in the community,” Bandera ISD Superintendent Gary Bitzkie said.
Texas Solar will finish the installation phase of the project today, and then BEC will take over, donating manpower, time and materials, to connect the system up to the grid to finish the installation in the next few weeks.
